Thanksgiving, I love this time of year. I've looked forward to Thanksgiving as far back as I can remember. It has changed over the years but it's still the same. It's about being together with family and being thankful for all of our blessings, big and small.
When I was a young girl our entire family, on my Mom's side, would all go to my Grandparents home in the little small town of, Sodas, MI. We would all bring our favorite dish to pass and drinks to share as well. There was always enough food to feed about 50 or more people all day long! There would be nearly 25 or 30 people at my Grandparents home through out the day.
The men would all congregate into the living room to watch football. The women would all hang out in the dining room and chat. If we were lucky enough to get snow all of the kids would head outside with our sleds or toboggans slide down the huge hill beside the house! It was so much fun! Just being together with everyone. We all loved each other so much.
As I grew up, I married and had kids of my own. We, Bob, the kids, and I, would try to go to his parents, my parents, and my grandparents house to see everybody. We loved it! We were exhausted by the end of the day but it was so heartwarming to see those we weren't able to see often throughout the year. I miss those days.
Now that our kids are grown and many of our loved ones have passed away it's hard to get together as we once did. Tiff lives 14 hours away as does the rest of my family except Bob,Andrew, and my bro.
I wish my daughter was able to come home for Thanksgiving, I miss her so. I also wish my mom and sister could be here as well. If not in person, we will all be together in spirit.
I have much to be thankful for. I have a home, vehicles, clothes to wear, food to eat, friends and family that I love, a job, and I love my kitty too! It's the most simple and basic things in life that I am most thankful for. The Lord is good all of the time.
Lord, I am thankful for all of the blessings that you have bestowed upon my family. I am thankful for the loved ones that are here with me to celebrate this season, Bob, Andrew, and Duane. I pray that our loved ones that are not with us this coming Thanksgiving day will have a blessed day with the ones that they are with. I pray for health and well being for all of my friends and family. I, thank you, Lord, in Jesus name.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends and family! May you all be richly blessed in His precious name.
